West Trenton Presbyterian Church COVID-19 Policy

In an effort to protect our congregation from the dangers associated with corona virus, the following policy is being implemented.  As of Wednesday March 11, 2020 the use of the building will be suspended.  It is expected to remain closed through March 25.  There will be no meetings or activities (including worship) unless the Session decides it is prudent to change the policy before then.

Groups that use the building will be informed about the closure and communication with the group leaders will be ongoing.

Session will have another meeting on March 18 by teleconference to continue our discussion of the situation.

There will be a thorough cleaning of the building that will take place prior to the reopening of the church.

We are looking into ways to have some kind of virtual church or other communication to take the place of our regular worship service.

The Session will monitor and follow guidelines and direction of governmental and medical experts to make decisions.  For example, Ewing Township has discouraged meetings of more than 10 people at a time.

Further communications about our situation will be coming as needed.

During this time please be mindful that even though the church is closed, our costs and obligations continue.  We are thankful for the support of the members and friends of the church and we prayerfully ask for continued support as we go through this time.

Most importantly, we need to be the people of the church now.  There are many things we can do.  We should pray for those who have been disaffected by the virus. We can be considerate of our neighbors by practicing safe procedures that will limit the possibility of the virus spreading.  We can also help one another.  If you go to the grocery store ask your neighbor if you can pick something up.  Look for things you can do through your Christian duty as part of West Trenton Presbyterian Church and know that God will take care of the rest.

Worship will be held via Zoom.  Email the pastor for instructions by clicking here.

Also, Every day at 4:30 pm, Interim Pastor Marianne Rhebergen of Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church opens her computer, goes to the church’s Facebook page, and reads the Evening Prayer service from the Book of Common Worship. Up to twenty people have been joining her, many of them every day, for this quiet and peaceful time of Scripture and prayers of thanksgiving and intercession.

For those who can’t participate in real time, the recording remains on the Facebook page (Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church) and is also available of the church’s website (  Anyone is welcome to join!

New Brunswick  has created a Facebook presence to facilitate communicating online (click here to access it) and had our first Facebook live worship yesterday, March 22! Beginning next Sunday, March 29, however, we will worship via Zoom and post the recording to Facebook. The link is, and the phone number is  +1 646 876 9923.

Each Session member has taken a portion of the congregational membership list  and is taking responsibility to call/text/e-mail the people on their list once every week until we are no longer sheltered in place. Also, the Session will meet every other Sunday morning after worship to check in with one another and see how the plan needs to change. This week, the Session was endlessly patient with a barrage of e-mails while we flew by the seat of our pants.
