The Symposium

Dear Friends,

The Symposium book club will meet on Monday, May 20 at Princeton Seminary’s Center for Continuing Education. The MacKay Campus Center cafeteria will be closed so we will be on our own for dinner. The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Clarke Lounge of Erdman Center (20 Library Place).

We will spend the first part of the meeting voting on book selections for 2020. Thanks to all who have submitted suggestions. A brief listing (without descriptive information) is below for you to review in advance.

The book for this month is the novel It Can’t Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. “It Can’t Happen Here is the only one of Sinclair Lewis’s later novels to match the power of Main Street, Babbitt, and Arrowsmith. A cautionary tale about the fragility of democracy, it is an alarming, eerily timeless look at how fascism could take hold in America.” Pat Costigan will lead our discussion.

We look forward to seeing you. As always, guests are welcome.
