The Symposium on September 17, 2018

The Symposium book club will meet on Monday, September 17 at Princeton Seminary’s Center for Continuing Education. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at MacKay Campus Center. Our regular meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Clarke Lounge in Erdman Hall (20 Library Place).

The book for this month is Welcome to the Universe: An Astrophysical Tour by Richard Gott, Michael Strauss and Neil de Grasse Tyson. The book grew out of their popular introductory course in astronomy for non-science majors at Princeton University. Bringing in the latest scientific discoveries, the authors describe our own solar system, the birth and death of stars, our Milky Way galaxy and the vastness of the universe filled with innumerable galaxies, black holes and other weird objects. We have no presenter assigned for this month, so please be prepared to raise questions and contribute to the discussion.

Click here for a preliminary schedule for the next year with the books we selected at our May meeting. We need volunteers to present the various books. The persons who recommended each book are listed in parentheses as a hint!

Our apologies for the lateness of this notice and the accompanying schedule for the next year. It has been an unusually busy summer.

We look forward to seeing you. As always, guests are welcome.
