PART-TIME STATED SUPPLY PASTOR

Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, officially known as The Second English Presbyterian Church of Amwell, located in Mt. Airy, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, is looking for a part-time Stated Supply Pastor, hereafter referred to as “pastor.” The pastor would provide a balanced ministry of preaching, teaching, pastoral care and organizational leadership to its congregation. The church is situated in a beautiful, rural country setting. We preach from the Bible, sing the good old hymns, provide special messages for our children and treat one another like family.

The length of service would be based on a part-time weekly schedule for a period of 1 year commencing on January 1, 2019 and ending on December 31, 2019.

The selected pastor would provide a balanced ministry to the congregation in the following areas: Leadership, Program Coordination, Pastoral Care and Administration.

Leadership: The pastor would serve as the primary worship leader of the congregation together with other lay persons, administering the sacraments and preaching from the Scriptures in a traditional way. The pastor would minister both to those outside and within the membership of the congregation through the worship leadership provided through baptisms, weddings and funerals supplemented with counseling.

Program Coordination: The pastor would assist in coordinating the efforts of the church’s Christian Educational programs including Youth groups, Sunday Church School, Vacation Church School, adult Bible study series and membership classes for adults and youth.

Pastoral Care: The pastor would visit and counsel those who are sick, bereaved, shut in or who have spiritual and personal problems. The pastor would assist in developing programs designed to reach out to people who are not members of this congregation.

Administration: The pastor would serve as the primary coordinator of all church activities and, as such, would serve in an advisory capacity to all committees of the Session as well as other groups within the congregation. The pastor would be knowledgeable of all programs, activities, and scheduling in the congregation so as to facilitate the most effective cooperative effort possible. Additional responsibilities would include coordinating the publication of the church quarterly newsletter and weekly worship bulletin. The pastor would serve as Moderator of the Session and would assist the Clerk of Session in preparing the docket for the monthly Session meetings as well as the annual meeting of the congregation. The pastor would also attend the monthly meetings of the New Brunswick Presbytery.
